Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Truck and Trailer USA (“we”) handle information on truck-trailer.us. It applies to the classifieds board only. Other users you meet are not us; do not send them information you are not willing to share.

What we collect

  • Account: US mobile number (identity), first and last name, optional bio and avatar, ZIP code and derived city/state and map coordinates, role flags (hauler/client), SMS-alert opt-in.
  • Equipment and jobs: specs you enter, photos you upload (we strip GPS EXIF), asking prices, from/to ZIPs.
  • Messages: text and images you send in threads, including phone numbers or addresses you choose to share there.
  • Safety and ops: reports, blocks, legal-acceptance records (document, version, time, IP), OTP rate-limit keys, hashed SMS log metadata (not message bodies).
  • Technical: IP address (area guess, rate limits, abuse), cookies for session and search area, browser user-agent as sent to the server.

We do not require a password. The phone number is the account.

What is public

If you complete a profile, other users can see first name, last name or initial (your choice), city/state, bio, avatar, equipment, and job listings. Phone numbers and street addresses are never on the public profile. You can share them in a private thread; that is your choice and your risk.

How we use it

  • Run the board: login, search by ZIP/radius, show listings, deliver messages.
  • Send SMS login codes. Send optional message-digest SMS only if you opt in.
  • Moderate abuse, enforce Terms, defend legal claims, and comply with law.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Who else sees it

  • Other users: only what you publish or send them.
  • Twilio: phone number and SMS content we ask them to send (codes and, if you opt in, digest notices). Twilio’s role is a processor for delivery.
  • Hosting: the Operator’s servers (currently on the Operator’s infrastructure). Backups may exist for a limited time.
  • Law enforcement: if we believe we are legally required, or to prevent crime or serious harm.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and an area cookie (ZIP and radius) so search works if you are not signed in. We do not run third-party advertising cookies.

Retention and your choices

We keep account and listing data while the account is open. You can edit profile and equipment, close jobs, and turn off SMS alerts in Account. To delete an account, contact the Operator through TheIT.Guru. We may retain records needed for security, legal holds, or backups for a limited period.

You may opt out of optional SMS in Account. Transactional login codes stop if you stop using the account.

Children

The Service is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Security

We use HTTPS, hashed one-time codes, and rate limits. No method is perfect. Do not put secrets in listings.

Changes

We may update this policy with the version date above. Material changes to an account holder may require a fresh acceptance with the Terms.
